  1. I recently made a king size quilt, “Piecing our Nation Together” from many friends across America!  It will accommodate 1000 names and short messages of support for Mitt Romney and his bid for the White House.  Quilting is very popular among women (and some men)across the U.S.  My idea was to include as many Romney supporters with positive messages along with their name, city and state. I hope to have representation from all 50 states before the GOP National convention in Aug.  This quilt is being featured at the entrance to the HMQS Quilt Show in Salt Lake City, May 10-12, 2012. The theme of the quilt show is “Star Spangled 2012” in honor of this most important election of our lifetime!
I have entered a second quilt in the competition at this same quilt show.  While it hangs in the quilt gallery, it will be viewed by over 5000 quilt show attendees. My objective is for those women, teens, men, judges, quilt class educators, vendors and attendees to stop and read some of the hand-printed messages on the quilt which prominently bears “ROMNEY – Believe in America” on the front.  This quilt is titled, “Veterans for Romney” and will be auctioned after the show to raise money for the general election in the name of Veterans for Romney.
The first of three quilts, same original design which I pieced and quilted was presented to Mitt and Ann Romney at the Las Vegas Victory celebration on Feb. 4, 2012 by my husband and myself. This quilt carried 500 names and messages for Gov. Romney.
These quilts, at the beginning were a labor of love and support from the hearts of myself and many who support Mitt Romney. The project has evolved with growing interest to demonstrate wide spread support across our nation in a medium (quilting) which many women (and some men) who represent the heart of America as moms, career women, younger girls still in school, grandmothers, etc. Quilting has always been representative of women working to care for their families.

  2. Christine! How marvelous an endeavor is that!  Would you send us a picture at info@thekitchencabinet.us?  We would love to feature it on Facebook and on our homepage!  What a historic piece that will be…and a possibility for the Smithsonian!  So glad you are with us!
