Update: CBS Says Correspondent Attkisson CAN talk…just SO busy…….

Sharyl Attkisson’s big mistake at CBS?
Exposing The White House without George Bush IN IT. If Ms. Attkisson’s story this week about the Department of Justice’ failed Fast & Furious gun-running operations had happened on the Bush-watch, she would have been a hero at CBS. Unfortunately she has pinned Attorney General Eric Holder for lying to Congress, instead.
Think back to Dan Rather’s history-making and embarrassing investigation of the President’s National Guard service. CBS couldn’t push enough promos about that story. How heavily do you think CBS is promoting this embarrassment for the Obama administration?
I was able to get through to Sharyl Attkisson at the CBS Washington Bureau. Sharyl was guarded and promised a call back. Not expecting one, I phoned the CBS Senior Vice President for Communications Sonya McNair. The Weekly Standard claims McNair told The Standard’s Mark Hemingway that Attkisson would not be available for any more interviews. In our conversation, McNair wouldn’t go on the record with The Kitchen Cabinet. Only that “Sharyl CAN speak…she is just SO busy.” Because reporters communicate everyday
for a living, it’s quite unexpected that in the heat of a big story Sharyl wouldn’t be just as interested in talking about it on Thursday, as she was on Monday. Unless there were consequences.
Remember the old days when ALL media outlets turned against Richard Nixon? All the dogs were barking at the door? Now liberal media outlets, national and local, “coordinate” their coverage of Barack Obama, provide protection, time stories, and respond to “calls” from The White House. Their candidate IS Barack Obama, he carries the liberal agenda, the perceived battle for civil rights, and he gets kid glove treatment.
I’ll put my trust in Sharyl Attkisson. She is a well-prepared, high-caliber network correspondent, in an age when so many are untrained and unseasoned. Attkisson has won multiple Emmy Awards for her investigative reporting on The Bail Outs and TARP, on The Red Cross, for her reporting on “Drugs, Money & Safety” about vaccines and prescription drugs, and a handful of others. Along with her stellar day to day work, she has even written a text book called , Writing Right for Broadcast and Internet News. Trust me, few news people today could write such a book or even know the long-held customs and practices of broadcast news.
We’ll be watching to make sure that Ms. Attkisson’s reporting on CBS doesn’t become less frequent, or is pushed down in the broadcast, or invisible.
