Today’s CBS-Gate: The Rest Of The Story
October 6, 2011

CBS longtime investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson

Remarkably, CBS News made correspondent Sharyl Attkisson available Thursday night to appear on FOX News’ Bill O’Reilly show and discuss the “Fast & Furious” arms scandal.  Surprising…or not so, after CBS brass had made it clear to The Kitchen Cabinet.US and other media outlets that Sharyl Attkisson was SO busy she had no time for such interviews.  Attkisson is clearly under immense pressure, not just from her employer but from The White House.  She was very measured in her words, even struggling at times during her FOX appearance.  O’Reilly did not broach the nationally-reported allegation that CBS has tried to silence Attkisson, which was probably pre-agreed in exchange for her TV interview.  Attkisson’s appearance was clearly calculated by CBS to give the network cover after reports by The Weekly Standard that CBS was clamping down on Attkisson.

Meanwhile, apparently Ms. Attkisson is STILL terribly busy, as she was not able to personally return The Kitchen Cabinet’s phone call this morning as she said she would.  Instead, guess who, CBS News Senior Vice President of Communications  Sonya McNair called to let us know that SHE would be handling Ms. Attkisson’s calls.

Free speech isn’t so free at CBS News it seems.

Investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson has hit a nerve in an administration that is drowning in misdeeds and misdirection.  CBS is in the back pocket of The White House.  A difficult spot for Ms. Attkisson.

Is there any better work for The Kitchen Cabinet than to catch the back of a courageous woman journalist who is taking on the most powerful people in the country, and holding them accountable to the taxpayers?  Let’s continue to put CBS on notice, and express how much The Kitchen Cabinet looks forward to observing its long-advertised CBS tradition of good journalism.
