California Changing How MANY Parents One Child Can Have Under The Law

You have to love California liberal Democrats.  They never let what’s best for kids…get in their way.

A San Francisco-based state legislator is on his way to rendering TWO-PARENT families, obsolete.  California State Senator Mark Leno believes that in the 21st Century, families shouldn’t be “restricted” by having only “two-parent” families.   Such definitions are apparently out of style,  especially when there are boyfriends to step in, gay partners, or buddies of a spouse.  All of which could soon be legally-defined as “parents” to a child.

How does this do anything but CONFUSE the futures and the best interest of children?

California likes to pioneer such social themes.  The State of California is the home of the most contentious gay marriage debate in the nation.  Legal beagles are counting the days until the U.S. Supreme Court takes up the constitutionality of the Proposition8/Protect Marriage initiative.  In the meantime, the California State Assembly plows forward by trying to legalize the concept of three or even four-parent families.

boyfriends, and multi-gay parent homes.

How to mediate custody? Divorce? Common law marriages?  Civil Unions?  Boyfriend/Girlfriend custody? Such “responsibilities” are always viewed as secondary to establishing RIGHTS in the Socialist Republic of California.

Here’s the latest:

San Francisco State Senator Mark Leno has crafted the bill which would allow three or more people who have “acted” as parents, to negotiate on child custody, visitation and child support, and allow judges to split such privileges up among them.

SB 1476 is not meant to expand the definition of who can qualify as a parent, only to eliminate the limit of two per child.

declaration of paternity, for example. It also can be a man who was married and living with a child’s mother, or who took a baby into his home and represented the infant as his own.

Leno’s bill, which has passed the Senate and is now in the Assembly, would apply equally to men or women, and to straight or gay couples.

Examples of three-parent relationships that could be affected by SB 1476 include:

• A family in which a man began dating a woman while she was pregnant, then raised that child with her for seven years. The youth also had a parental relationship with the biological father.

• A same-sex couple who asked a close male friend to help them conceive, then decided that all three would raise the child.

• A divorce in which a woman and her second husband were the legal parents of a child, but the biological father maintained close ties as well.

SB 1476 stemmed from an appellate court case last year involving a child’s biological mother, her same-sex partner, and a man who had an affair with the biological mother and impregnated her while she was separated temporarily from her female lover.”
