GOP Debate Reveals The Truth
September 7, 2011

The MSNBC/Politico GOP Presidential Debate turned out to be good television, but these televised debates are over-cast. The viewing audience will be treated to not one, but two more televised debates this month alone.  At this rate, voters will soon become apathetic and ratings will drop.  Cable News Networks need to pair down the field and allow the debates to be more meaty among the REAL contenders.

Rick Santorum would just like to be in the conversation, but he isn’t a serious candidate for the presidency.  Why should he be on the stage?  Ron Paul is riveting as he constantly pivots from outlandish to logical.   HE’S not a serious contender either.  Newt Gingrich seems to be promoting his books and other products, more than campaigning.  Why should he be on the stage?  Because of ancient POLLING data?  Jon Huntsman is, on paper, a qualified participant, but every answer he gives seems to have been practiced in front of a mirror, and often his responses aren’t particularly relevant.

Perhaps soon the field of eight will be slimmed down so that the serious, hard-working, and fundraising candidates can really be heard from and the public can make judgments on something more than :45 answers.

It’s time for cable news presidents to finally let Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Mitt Romney, and Rick Perry face off and allow Republican voters to truly assess their domestic and international plans for America.  This is one of the most important elections in the history of America.  We aren’t in search of an anchorman, a buddy, a movie star, a pastor, or an orator.  We are looking for someone with character and skills, someone who has what Barack Obama sorely wishes he had….experience.
