The First Lady Crosses Her Fingers For A More Liberal Supreme Court

At a recent fundraiser for President Obama’s re-election campaign in Providence, Rhode Island, the first lady told her audience:

We stand at a fundamental crossroads for our country. You’re here because you know that in just 13 months, we’re going to make a choice that will impact our lives for decades to come … let’s not forget what it meant when my husband appointed those two brilliant Supreme Court justices … let’s not forget the impact that their decisions will have on our lives for decades to come.”

The White House has only used The First Lady sparingly during her first three years in Washington because there is something about Michelle Obama which rings a bell  of distrust among many Americans.  Mrs. Obama is a rare mix of  radical liberalism combined with a personal hunger for affluence and privilege.   The combination gives her an almost tin ear for politics.   How else could Michelle Obama run up giant, internationalNo More 2nd Amendment? vacation bills, maintain a pricey dining schedule, and plop her own children in special, private schools, while her husband  is leading the country into a depression?  And proudly protecting the very unions who are destroying our PUBLIC schools?

Mrs. Obama couldn’t be more right.  The United States is on the precipice of a cultural transformation.   If the majority on the U.S., Supreme Court changes by just one vote, Liberals could make a run at gun control, gay marriage, national health care, and school choice, just to

Obama Supreme Court appointee Elena Kagan

name a few.  If you want to see real ultra-conservative panic, just mention the possibility of an Obama-dominated Supreme Court revisiting gun control.  Today’s Daily Caller comments:

Currently, the Second Amendment clings to a 5-4 pro-freedom majority on the Supreme Court. Just one vote is all that stands between the America our Founding Fathers established and a radically different America that Barack Obama and his supporters envision.

If you want to read something scary, take another look at the minority opinions in the Supreme Court’s landmark Heller and McDonald decisions that struck down Washington, D.C.’s and Chicago’s unconstitutional gun bans. In the Heller dissent, four justices concluded that the Second Amendment does not guarantee an individual right to own a firearm, nor does it protect our right to defend ourselves, our families, or our property. In McDonald, the same four justices argued that the 5-4 Heller decision should be reversed.

If these four justices had just one more vote on their side, their opinion — that the Second Amendment should not exist in

Justice Sonia Sotomayor

today’s modern society — would be the law of the land today. And assuredly, the anti-gun activist wing of the court knows how close they are to gaining the upper hand. As Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg told a Harvard Club audience in 2009, she looks forward to the day when a “future, wiser court” overturns 5-4 decisions like Heller.

The 2012 presidential election will be more historic and perhaps have more impact than any since 1960.

  1. Maybe more American SHOULD have adopted this attitude when most of you voted for Mr. Bush.  You allowed him to drive most Americans to poverty, bail out the wealthy and leave this country with an debt that can NEVER be repaid.  While he leaves the White House to continue living as a affluent American.  If American can agree and help Mr. Bush drive us into debt, why is it so impossible to give President Obama a chance to get us out?  You trust a man that you knew you shouldn’t, since everyone knew that Mr. Bush had his own agenda, and now most American’s will be left out in the cold after the next election, because a lot of Americans voting are willing to believe the lies that the country is broke because of Mr. Obama.  Dislike him for what he is doing, if you don’t like it; not for what his predecessor did.  Let’s vote for the right president, not just the white president.

  2. Obama has had almost 3 years to turn around Bush’s “errors” (which I don’t agree he made). For the first 2 years he had Democratic control of Congress to help him and the only thing he accomplished was Obamacare which was rammed down our throats, is universally loathed and will probably not stand up to legal scrutiny.  This country continues in a downward spiral that can no longer be blamed on any of Bush’s policies.  Obama is totally and completely to blame.  He does not understand the free market system, the economy, the Constitution, foreign policy, or the American people.  I don’t care what color he is, he is NOT working and we need him out before he destroys this country!  4 more years of Obama would be an unmitigated disaster!

  3. Agreed that Bush spent too much money on things he shouldn’t have, but he was a miser compared to Obama. The facts are out there, you just have to be willing to accept them.

  4. We elected someone for his…..smile.  And because he was NOT Hillary Clinton.
