At long LAST! Congress does something we can all be proud of. No more hard-earned taxpayer money is being socked away in the pockets of Pakistani leaders working for both sides! At least not now:
“A US Congressional panel has frozen $700m (£450m) in aid to Pakistan until it gives assurances it is tackling the spread of homemade bombs in the region.” Get the rest of the story…here.

The North Carolina Democratic Party is putting out ads claiming that the GOP is declaring all out war on “women” — at least on Democratic women. NC politics has undergone some upheaval with reapportionment and they have lost some districts and now are fighting amongst themselves.
As usual, scratch a Democrat and you get a whiner . . .

We were unaware that Newt Gingrich had changed from identifying as a Lutheran, and then a Baptist, to now, a Catholic. One hopes his spiritual journey hasn’t paralleled his political opportunities with Southerners in Georgia, and now Catholics who have funded his movies and other enterprises.
Gingrich may have to explain his development as a believer as he begins to travel in Iowa, because religion is once again front and center in that heartland state. Read here how the faith card is being played in Iowa.

Iowa freeways are heating up with campaign buses and teams moving from one important city to another. This week Newt Gingrich must leave the debate stage and truly campaign. His numbers in Iowa are excellent but his campaign bus has little fuel in it. Gingrich says he’s the frontrunner and everyone’s target. Here’s how the competition plans to knock down his support.

“It’s rather like lighting a candle you’ve been saving, caroling when your feet are cold, building a fire in a clean grate, grinding tinsel deep into the rug, licking frosting off a beater, giving something you made yourself. It’s laughter, being with people you like, and at some time falling to your knees and saying, “Thank You for coming to my birthday party.”
How sad indeed to awake on Christmas and not be a child. Time, self-pity, apathy, bitterness and exhaustion can take the Christmas out of the child, but you cannot take the child out of Christmas.” Read the whole, wonderful piece here.”

Mitt Romney might wish he could take back his $10,000 bet offered to Governor Rick Perry, but The Washington Post reports Perry would never collect. Romney is famously frugal, and loves to fly coach and drive aged automobiles. The chances of Mitt Romney parting with $10,000 on a crazy bet? Read just how unlikely that would be. Americans, might welcome that attitude in the nation’s capitol…!!!

Were there too many candidates on that debate stage last night in Iowa?
The Kitchen Cabinet thinks that the media is getting the most benefit from the seemingly endless string of debates while GOP candidates get little time in the spotlight to get out their message.
Ask yourself. Who would be on the stage, actually commanding the attention of voters, if standards for participation were set?

Ron Paul has a new campaign ad running called “BIG DOG”.
It’s wild and in your face…but we give Dr. Paul props for making the case for a more limited government and massive spending cuts in a very entertaining way!
See all the other candidates’ latest ads, too.

We are finding it less than amusing when the top law enforcement officer of the United States of America can’t seem to come to grips with the meaning of the term “lying”.
It’s not like they are asking him if he knows the meaning of the word “is”!

A reminder that the Americans anywhere or any time could be put in harm’s way by terrorists:
The Christian Science Monitor offers this story revealing that a retired FBI agent, 63-year old Robert Levinson, who vanished years ago in Iran, is still alive and held hostage. Levinson, the father of 7, is pictured in this video frame grab from the Levinson family website showing Levinson in a hostage video they received from unidentified captors. In the video Levinson begs, “Help me.”
