The North Carolina Democratic Party is putting out ads claiming that the GOP is declaring all out war on “women” — at least on Democratic women. NC politics has undergone some upheaval with reapportionment and they have lost some districts and now are fighting amongst themselves.
As usual, scratch a Democrat and you get a whiner . . .

We were unaware that Newt Gingrich had changed from identifying as a Lutheran, and then a Baptist, to now, a Catholic. One hopes his spiritual journey hasn’t paralleled his political opportunities with Southerners in Georgia, and now Catholics who have funded his movies and other enterprises.
Gingrich may have to explain his development as a believer as he begins to travel in Iowa, because religion is once again front and center in that heartland state. Read here how the faith card is being played in Iowa.

Mitt Romney might wish he could take back his $10,000 bet offered to Governor Rick Perry, but The Washington Post reports Perry would never collect. Romney is famously frugal, and loves to fly coach and drive aged automobiles. The chances of Mitt Romney parting with $10,000 on a crazy bet? Read just how unlikely that would be. Were there too many candidates on that debate stage last night in Iowa?
The Kitchen Cabinet thinks that the media is getting the most benefit from the seemingly endless string of debates while GOP candidates get little time in the spotlight to get out their message.
Ask yourself. Who would be on the stage, actually commanding the attention of voters, if standards for participation were set?

A reminder that the Americans anywhere or any time could be put in harm’s way by terrorists:
The Christian Science Monitor offers this story revealing that a retired FBI agent, 63-year old Robert Levinson, who vanished years ago in Iran, is still alive and held hostage. Levinson, the father of 7, is pictured in this video frame grab from the Levinson family website showing Levinson in a hostage video they received from unidentified captors. Iowa is a quilt of uncertainty this Christmas.
Women in the heartland state are trying to weather lost jobs, groceries and gas that cost more than they have, and mortgages on the brink. Is it any wonder there is little patience for national leaders who are doing nothing to successfully heal the economy?

President Obama grounded. Michelle and the kids are heading off to Hawaii without him after Mitt Romney shamed the President. Obama had planned to hit the waves while Congress continued to do the heavy lifting on payroll tax reduction. Romney suggests that Obama keep his eye on the needs of American families, instead of his golf cart.
Hawaii Five O will just have to wait.

Speaking to WABC New York:
“Mitt Romney may not be their first choice, but Mitt Romney every day of the week and twice on Sunday is going to be a much more effective president for issues that they care about than Barack Obama,” Huckabee told WABC’s Aaron Klein recently. “I think sometimes there is this anxiety within the Republican Party of who is the perfect candidate. The answer is there isn’t one,” the former Arkansas governor added.”
That is the equivalent of a standing ovation for Romney from his former bitter foe of 2008.

In a moment for our times, Bill Clinton takes the podium and pushing the President of the United States off to the side while he delivered his own green speech! The press event was designed to highlight PRESIDENT OBAMA’s support of green initiatives. Always have to be careful about inviting Bill Clinton to anything! The photo opportunity reminds us all that we have a bystander in The White House.

Sarah Palin. Is she stepping forward to support Rick Santorum? Michele Bachmann won’t be too happy to hear that. Bachmann has been a strong supporter, and even a partner of Palin’s in many appearances. Still, on Fox News this week, Sarah Palin paid an important compliment to Santorum. Locked at the bottom of the polls, we’re certain Santorum considers it the greatest of Christmas gifts!
