L.A High School Opens Planned Parenthood Clinic: ON CAMPUS

What To Do Now? Let's Tell Girls Not To Slam Doors In Their Lives.

Roosevelt High School, located in one of the toughest areas of the City of Los Angeles, also has a high occurrence of teen pregnancy.  To address the problem Roosevelt High health nurses have partnered with Planned Parenthood to provide birth control, pregnancy information, screening for sexually transmitted diseases and even pregnancy testing.  The mission:  To reduce TEEN PREGNANCIES.

The problem is so rampant that high school nurses feel compelled to provide expanded services to low-income girls and boys.

Arizona's Catalina Mariah Clouser Left Her 1-Month Old On The Roof Of Her Car This Week...AFter Smoking Dope.

If high schools are going to step in for absentee parents by providing such services, shouldn’t there be ANOTHER component to counseling these low-income mostly Latino and African American kids?  Why are there few boundaries on teaching them about abortion and treatment, but TOTAL boundaries on teaching them to understand the VALUES of make better choices?  It is true that many young women have no one teaching  them about   1-Respecting Their Bodies  2-Protecting Their Futures 3- The Importance Of Bringing Children Into PREPARED HOMES.

The best way to change America’s economy overnight?  Teach our teens that in these times, it is essential to bring children into prepared homes. The MEDIA, RAPPERS, MOVIE STARS, even network news shows, could do more than Planned Parenthood by simply carrying the message to young women and young men….that they DESERVE BETTER.  And so do their babies.  Let’s hear THAT from The First Lady, from Oprah, and from Angelina Jolie, and Taylor Swift!

Roosevelt High School In Los Angeles....has big problem. And so do Taxpayers.

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Planned Parenthood and the Los Angeles Unified School District have teamed up in an unusual collaboration to reduce the number of unplanned teen pregnancies at Roosevelt High School.

Students can visit the on-campus health clinic to get free birth control, pregnancy tests, counseling and screening for sexually transmitted diseases – the first program of its kind in the country, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Birth rates among teenagers are down throughout California and Los Angeles County, but certain areas within the county, like the heavily Latino and low-income neighborhood around Roosevelt High School, buck that trend.

The school’s health center is separate from the school nurse’s office and also serves as a primary care clinic, according to the Times. However, about half of the visits this school year have been for reproductive health.

Roosevelt High School started offering contraception and counseling in 1997, but in 2006, that support from a local hospital ended and the school could no longer provide free contraceptives.

Nurse practitioner Sherry Medrano reached out to Planned Parenthood, which now provides a medical assistant, contraceptives, pregnancy and STDs testing. The organization bills Family PACT, a public program that provides family planning to low-income and uninsured California residents, the Times reported.

Students are also trained as peer advocates to talk to their classmates about STDs and pregnancy prevention.”

  1. St Anne’s Maternity Home, is a six acre facility nearby that has been in existance for 100 years.
Wouldn’t it have been better for  the school nurse to have contacted them instead of Planned Parenthood?

“St. Anne’s mission is to build brighter futures for individuals we serve. We provide quality, comprehensive services to at-risk teenage girls and young women, most of whom are pregnant and/or parenting, children and their families. Guided by our spiritual beliefs and our century of experience, we are committed to excellence in our programs, service with compassion and advocacy for those in need.”

  2. Very sad!  One of the reasons I send my child to a private Christian school.  The overall cost of public schools are more expensive anyway.

  3. Planned Parenthood is not working at ROOSEVELT HIGH SCHOOL – LOS ANGELES, CA, and this is not new at Roosevelt with planned parenthood.  What they should really bring to Roosevelt is more adequate general education, and Quality of Life Planning.  Help them plan their own life, and give them the education that they need to see a better future,  allow them to make decisions as to how their future can be, one class to plan a ten to fifteen year life plan, allow them to see their future with children and no children.  Parents need to be educated too, one mother from Roosevelt said all of her four girls got pregnant in High School.

  4. The LA Times article never said what the percentage of teen pregancies was at the school. Instead they gave anecdotal evidence.

Also, PP is offering those teens Depo-Provera, a drug with known side effects that include insulin resistance. Insulin resistance leads to diabetes. This is what LAUSD and Planned Parenthood are condoning in that school. Very sad!!!

I called the school board and the Congresswoman in that district, and nobody cared. Very sad!!!
