It’s All Mitt Romney All The Time … But Not For Santorum & Paul
January 3, 2012
Political experts, who are not always right, say it’s going to be a win for Mitt Romney tonight. The Kitchen Cabinet is not quite convinced.
Yesterday, Debbie Wasserman and her Democratic National Committee landed ground teams to open up phone banks to call AGAINST Mitt Romney. Evangelical leaders are intent on stopping the “Mormon” from walking away with the election. Ron Paul has a band of organized and passionate followers spreading out like scouts, all hunting for disenchanted Republicans. Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann, and Rick Perry are all hustling to make a good showing tonight, and give the impression that they can move on. Newt Gingrich? Melting down in undisciplined, angry outbursts, as he realizes that his campaign doesn’t have the basic staff or money to compete.
Romney is going to have to EARN his win tonight, and if he does, he will have overcome religious prejudice, a giant GOP presidential field which has finally narrowed, and succeeded in getting voters to think about their pocketbooks. But we’re talking about Iowa here. Anything could happen
in the next few hours. Here’swhat the “experts” are saying:
“Mark Blumenthal breaks down the latest polling which suggests Mitt Romney will win the Iowa caucuses tonight.”
“Yes, the recent surge of support for Rick Santorum is real and could conceivably produce a surprise result Tuesday night. It is also possible that Ron Paul could pull off an upset, particularly if polls have been under-sampling his supporters. But for now, the best evidence available says that Romney is ahead in Iowa and is likely to stay ahead once all the votes are counted.”
Nate Silver forecasts a 42% chance of a Romney win, a 34% chance for Paul and a 20% chance for Santorum.
Harry Enten: “Now, something may go horribly wrong. It’s still tight, and polls have gotten primary/caucus results wrong before. But when Mitt Romney says “We’re going to win this thing”, I gotta say the numbers agree with him.”
Your guess is probably as viable…as theirs!
