The image was put together by ACV and was found on Facebook. Several others are also floating around. Regardless, the modern fighting forces all over still use bayonets… something a Commander-in-Chief might want to be aware of before opening mouth, inserting foot.
Admin: please look at Lori’s comment. The Commander-in-Chief said that less are used, not that they are not used at all. To put what Obama said in context, it was in reference to Mitt Romney’s claim that we (the US military) have less ships in our Navy now than we did in 1917.
This was a claim about the United States modern armed forces, not the UK modern armed forces, or the Swedish armed forces. His point was in reference to OUR military efficiency, which I think is what was most relevant given it was a conversation about OUR military spending.
I am not aware of the use of horses, however. I know the Marines have used donkeys or pack mules in Afghanistan but I do not think anyone in the US military currently uses horses, at least not in combat.
He never said they didn’t he said less were used.
Those are troops fighting for the UK. Those are SA80s (the standard issue firearm of the UK’s armed forces), not M16s.
Why would you misrepresent “our” armed forces like that?
Or do you still consider yourself a colonial?
