All The President’s Headaches? Includes Mrs. Obama
January 10, 2012
According to the hot new book out called “The Obamas”, by Jodi Kantor, some of the biggest problems the president has had to face in The White House have been wrestling with the wishes and frustrations of MRS. Obama! A normal marriage! But complicated when played out in The White House. Apparently the First Lady doesn’t care all that much about whether she wears $515 sneakers to community events for the poor, even if it causes bad press. Michelle Obama also tried to figure out a way that the family could live in CHICAGO while Barack Obama served! Now THAT’s commitment.
Anyone watching the President go through the motions of his presidency can sense that Barack is pulled in many directions. Kantor describes Michelle Obama having a completely different “philosophy” and view of her husband’s presidency than Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, which caused deeply- troubled waters from the outset. ( This gives us a little hope for Mrs. Obama…) Kantor describes their relationship as distant, and reveals that Mrs. Obama would send e-mails to friend and senior aide Valerie Jarrett, asking her to remove her name from the comments and directions and passing them on!!!! (A tip from Mrs. Reagan?) Not unlike Hillary Clinton and Nancy Reagan, Mrs. Obama has apparently been terribly frustrated at times with the vision of her husband’s presidency, and disappointed in the direction of his legacy.
Interesting to note that not only has Rahm Emanuel been given the boot as Chief of Staff in the first term, and now this week, Bill Daly as well!
To be a FLY ON THE WALL!
One wonders if Rahm Emanuel WAS ready to be the Mayor of Chicago after all…or if he was TOLD he was ready!
Jodi Kantor is getting bookings on every major talk show, and her favorite tale to tell seems to be the Obama’s first Halloween. The White House says that there WAS no private Halloween party just for elites, but Kantor has stood by her reporting, saying on the “Today” show, “If you look at the text of the book, the sort of outside trick-or-treating was public with press. The inside party, which was the more lavish party, was kept very quiet.”
The problem with the party? Expensive and over-the-top during the Fall of 2009 when the economy was tanking, there was record unemployment, and foreclosures. Decorating the East Room like Alice in Wonderland was probably never even a thought in the mind of Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady during another tough time. She would have been out visiting the troops, bringing food to the poor, and encouraging Americans to make sacrifices!
The Obamas invited Johnny Depp and Tim Burton to be their guests and create Halloween for their kids! And kept it quiet.
The White House has earlier rejected claims about the “party”, saying, “If we wanted this event to be a secret, we probably wouldn’t have invited the press corps to cover it, release photos of it to Flickr or post a video from it on the White House website … Just goes to show you can’t believe everything you read in books these days.”
Kantor maintained that the real point of the book, which she said was largely ignored over the weekend, is about Michelle Obama’s transformation as first lady. “Because she, at this point in the narrative, is moving away from an emphasis on fashion and style and toward much more substantive work,” said Kantor.

If I didn’t dislike them so much, I’d read this book.. I just don’t want to throw up all night!
What I would like to know is how much of the money that has been spent on excesses by this couple can we recover? The American tax-payer would not so much resent paying higher taxes for ammending the Federal Budget to give relief to the poor, or underemployed if they knew the following two problems were being addressed:
The first is the REDICULOUS level of excess by this couple in expenses for vacations and their own entertainment. The second is the “hidden taxes” that are being imposed via Over-regulation of the economy via the Department of Energy, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Department of (In-)Justice. Those departments and their actions trickle down to us in the form of less access, and higher prices for our basic needs.
Give us relief of these burdens, and you wouldn’t even need to ASK us to pay more for the relief of our fellow Americans. WE SEE their suffering, and WE CARE. The Obamas, in their Alice In Wonderland world, appear not to.
No. She is just creating a smoke screen ala Sal Alinsky to take the focus off of Obama’s failed presidency and the mainstream media are falling in line as usual.
I dislike them too much to give a damn! I will not read it either!
