With Gingrich…It’s Sort Of A Mixed Bag
January 20, 2012
Some women love him. Some women honestly….don’t. A worn and aging Marianne Gingrich faced the camera of ABC News to have her say last night, and it was bitter,
revealing, and unfortunately familiar:
Newt Gingrich is someone that men and women do not feel tepid about. He is a genius in many ways, a rascal, power-hungry, visionary, and absolutely intent on getting WHAT HE WANTS. Newt Gingrich is one of the great conservative thinkers of 2012, but he is also a politician who has left scorched earth behind him almost everywhere he has been. All of Newt Gingrich walked out on the debate stage last evening in South Carolina, and tried to scare off any damaging questions.
Gingrich was brilliant and prepared as he deflected John King’s opening shot across the bow. King was naive to take on the tried and tested former Speaker of the House in such an obvious way. After all, Newt Gingrich cut his teeth trying to out-think President Bill Clinton.
Gingrich’s response was cunning. He pivoted. John King was knocked off his feet by Gingrich’s push-back. The audience’s rousing support of Newt’s attack on the “media” became the moment. Gingrich made himself the victim instead of the culprit!
John King failed in his number one job to follow-up: The CNN correspondent should have responded with:
“But Mr. Speaker, you are running for the most trusted position in the United States, if not the world. Your personal character IS relevant.”
Are we too harsh with the former Speaker? We don’t think so. After all, didn’t conservative women just months ago, disqualify Herman Cain for being casual about his sexual exploits?
Here’s what women need to know about Newt Gingrich:
-Newt Gingrich’s daughters have both come forward to defend their father, but it is important that both of their livelihoods are supported by Gingrich’s campaign, as is his first wife Jackie AND her sister. Jackie Gingrich has been absolutely silent about her marriage, even though court documents have leaked revealing that Gingrich abandoned her and her daughters when she had Cancer.
http://www.cnn.com/2011/12/26/politics/gingrich-divorce-file/index.html
-Newt Gingrich has consistently claimed that the divorce was Jackie Gingrich’s request. Carrolton County court documents obtained by the media reveal in detail that Jackie Gingrich did not want a divorce and was fearful of being left by him without any support for her and their two daughters. Gingrich left her for Marianne Gingrich, saying to a close colleague, “she is too old and not pretty enough to be a First Lady.”
-Gingrich’s religious journey has included more than just his recent conversion to Catholicism. Newt Gingrich was raised Lutheran. After losing not one, but two congressional races in Georgia, he became a Southern Baptist when a Pastor of a significant Baptist congregation agreed to help him become Speaker of The House. This is when the Christian Right was born. Gingrich converted to Catholicism two years ago, not long before beginning his campaign for the presidency. This conversion has been his answer for his past bad acts as a husband and father. It is interesting to note that the Catholic Church and its Pro-Life supporters have also become a significant source of funding for Newt Gingrich projects.
-Newt Gingrich did have a well-documented affair with congressional Callista Bizek while married to Marianne Gingrich. The affair apparently spanned some 6 years of his marriage. Marianne Gingrich’s claims of Gingrich’s shallow commitment to their marriage parallels his first marriage. She claims he demanded an “open marriage.” According to all reports, he lived one, with or without permission. (see back up links at story end.)
-Candidate for First Lady, Callista Gingrich has been remarkably silent on the campaign trail, but ever-present. In light of Marianne Gingrich’s public pronouncements, it is hard to ignore Callista Gingrich’s ambitious role in the destruction of Gingrich’s second marriage. Not only did Callista show blatant disrespect for Marianne Gingrich’s marriage, but disregard for her illness. Newt Gingrich seems to have also discarded Marianne Gingrich when she needed him most, having just been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis prior to his request for a divorce. Newt Gingrich apparently envisioned Callista as a better partner for his next political steps.
-Perhaps the most telling revelation of the 2nd Mrs. Gingrich is that according to her, Newt Gingrich said, “Callista let’s me do whatever I want.”
Enough said.

Newt Gingrich has never hidden his past divorces. Oh he made horrible mistakes and we know that nobody in this world EVER cheated on their spouse or significant other. I am basing my decision and support for Newt on the here and now. How are his actions? How does he carry himself? How does he treat those around him? Does he speak from what he believes or are his words just “shifting in the wind”? I feel that Newt is the strongest, smartest candidate and will give Obama a run for his money during the debates.
As far as the comment about the open marriage – how many of us were there in the room at the time? It comes down to two people – each with their version. Because of his first divorce – it is easy for people to believe that is true. But….all of you men (and women) who are hating on Newt right now – just think of someone you hurt in the past. Would you love the USA (and possibly the world) to take their word about something that happened – especially if they are obviously bitter??? I would not want my reputation tarnished on what one person says.
Wow, sounds like a cold, calculating man doesn’t he? But, guess what, he is not running for man of the year, he is running for PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Does character matter? Sure, but just what are we looking for in a leader? Strength, toughness, boldness, intelligence, and someone who will not back down from a fight. When faced with Russians threatening backlash should we continue to sanction Iran, what is Odumbo doing? Backing down, what would NEWT DO? You got it – tell them to stick it! You KNOW the first thing he will do is build up our military again, something we desperately need. Strength in the face of other bullies like China, North Korea, Pakistan…strength would be his signature.
What about social issues? This man not only knows our history backward and forward, he is PROUD of our history. He BELIEVES IN THE CONSTITUTION, and would uphold it with vigor!
And lastly, please don’t forget, he went through a conversion a few years ago and, as a Catholic myself, I know what the process is and feel you don’t get to the end, and stand before God giving him your heart and soul without honesty WANTING to make that transformative change in your life. I have been through what his first two wives went through, my husband walked out on me after 18 yrs of marriage leaving me with a 10 year old and a 1 year old to raise on my own, so I KNOW that pain and fear. So I do not support Newt lightly, I support a man I think would be a Great President, and a man I believe has made a commitment to God and his wife Callista, and our Great Nation.
While I absolutely think he was wrong, I agree with FLCHristyB. I am divorced and have full custody of my daughter and never received child support. My ex signed over his parental rights! But, I am voting for a PRESIDENT, not a PASTOR. Character matters, but show me one person who cast a stone that has not done something wrong in their life they wish they could take back and sometimes it takes a few times to get the message………….so I am for Newt!
HE IS NOT WORTHY AT ALL TO BE PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you think for one minute that character doesn’t count, look at what is sitting in the office of the presidency right now. We do not need a warmonger for a president. We need someone who will bring our troops home and defend OUR OWN borders. We need someone who will SHRINK the size of govt, not increase it, and who understands that freedom and liberty are the hallmark of what being American is all about. We need someone who has a clear cut voting record of standing behind what he believes, even when it isn’t the popular WA, DC view. Newt says one thing, and does another. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, a snake in the grass. He is doing what is popular, saying what gets cheers with other warmongers, to get into office. I have followed Newt’s long history of shameful behavior. I am old enough to remember. He is a misogynist. He belongs to the WA beltway status quo group. He SAYS he believes in the constitution, but he doesn’t vote in a way that upholds it. He is another George Bush, guaranteed! Which is no better than the traitor we have in office right now. If that’s what you want, then go ahead, vote for him. And when he becomes president, you will be hanging your head in shame for your vote. We will continue to lose more and more of our freedoms until we have nothing left, but the industrial military complex and the Rothschilds running it all.
I am tired of voting for the lesser of 2 evils. 2 years ago I made a committment to vote for the most conservative man. PERIOD. There will never be a perfact candidate, but I would rather agree with a candidate 85% of the time rather then 50% . And character counts!!! and so does the TRUTH! I urge everyone to read How Do YouKill 11Million Peoplp-why the truth matters more then u think by: Andy Andrews.
You have chosen to enter in the LIBERAL medias biased attacks on the character of this man. He says they are not true and offers friends to confirm his statements. Yet you continue this attack. It is now my decision to not continue to read your posts or have you on my wall.
Character COUNTS.
I agree with Jo pretty much. I would so much rather have him be a man I could rave about with the character of Atticus Finch and the Passion of Henry Fonda in Mr. Smith goes to Washington but there’s NO ONE like that to choose from. I like Herman Cain very much. Too bad he dropped out. Im sure it wasn’t possible to continue. If people withhold money then that’s the end. They can use any reasoning to rationalize suspending their campaign but when the money dries up it’s over. I also like Rick Santorum but I don’t think he’s going to go far enough to win the nomination. I think he is a man of better character morally than either Newt Gingrich or Mitt Romney. Ron Paul is a non-entity as far as I’m concerned. He brings up interesting points to ponder and is obviously a smart man but I wouldn’t be able to sleep nights if he were our Commander-In-Chief. Mitt Romney seems to be a pretty smart business man but reminds me of an arrogant prissy boy on the playground who runs for the teacher when the bullies get after him. I’m afraid that if challenged by the bullies who will obviously try to push him around should he become President I’m afraid he will not be strong enough to present a strong front. That leaves Newt Gingrich who despite possible being a womanizer and a man who steps on people to climb his way up will be tought enough to make unpopular decisions and face the bullies and still represent our country, which I do believe he does love. I hope he is the one over Romney to win the nomination. I think we will see Santorum leave in a while. Of course, this is totally an uneducated opinion, just an observation made while watching television and sipping my coffee. Thanks for reading.
Woops-I looked at the wrong name when I said I agree. I DON’T agree with Jo (sorry) I agree with Suzy. Sorry for the mistake.
promises, promises, promises…that’s what every presidential candidate proceduces…my bf is still kicking himself in the ass on voting for Obama. I guess if you had been with men like newt who when the going gets tough runs…you’d stay as far away from him as possible. My first ex signed off our kids too so he wouldn’t have to pay child support. On ssdi and medicare and only get $696 a month…oh wait have to pay a $100 premium for medicare which makes it $596 a month…I want a president for once who is working for the people and not just looking after himself and his friends. I try working every yr for a couple months, and am honest with the employer that it’s only for a short while, long enough to get a tax return and they understand and welcome me back whenever I do want to work. But physically not much of a option anymore. My father taught me as I am sure alot of folk’s parents did to pay taxes and ssi would take care of us in the long run…I just want a president that will concentrate on the care and behalfs of the americans..not just the rich but the poor…not sure I trust Newt at all….I just see another power hungry politician who can’t even stick to a religious faith unless it pays for his goals….
Patty: Check back with us in a few weeks, and if you are right and we are wrong….we’ll print a retraction. For us, and for most women in America, if a man can lay in bed with one woman, with his wife on the phone, and tell his WIFE that he loves her…he’ll tell anybody ANYTHING.
There is grace and forgiveness for everyone except Newt I guess? This man has repented and been forgiven, not by a human but by God, that should be enough. Cain – denied, Clinton Denied, JFK denied. Newt has owned up to the truth and has set his feet upon a path of honoring his wife, honoring life. The obvious truth is the hatred remains in the heart and soul of of his ex-wife who is still living with unforgiveness in her heart. That bitterness is ugly and makes women across this country look pathetic. The thought that people can never change is false. NONE of us can look in the mirror and proclaim that we are perfect, many of you yourselves have made horrendous choices, yet you have been able to change and begin to live a life upright and clean. again… why is Newt the only one not allowed forgiveness? I am ashamed of this action by the Kitchen Cabinet, especially those of you who wear the banner of loving Jesus…. I am not claiming that Newt is the candidate of my choice, but I will defend a person who has walked in repentance and turned from their evil ways…
Absolutely Melody. But should the Oval Office be the testing ground for whether someone HAS?
Sonya, You don’t know that any of that is true. Were you there in the room while this was going on or just taking her word for it that it happened? If you were not there you can’t make a blanket statement that this was the case. Maryann needs to get a lfe. !5 years is long enough to get over it. I have had an annulment and I didn’t wait 15 years to get on with my life. I think it is just sour grapes on her part. What did she get out of the interview with ABC. Isn’t this just another democratic ploy to shut down anyone who might defeat “Odombo”?
If it was alright for Clinton to continue in office with what we knew about him why can’t we get behind someone who admits his faults instead of saying “I did not have sex with that woman” lying thru his teeth wit every word. But I guess that was OK because he was a democratic!!!
OK. How many of you who are hating newt for his past would say “I like JFK, he was such a good president”? He was such a womanizer while in office but yet he receives such praise. I don’t agree with the affairs; I do however think it odd that Marriane was sooo surprised with this new affair; wasn’t SHE the other woman before? Get real. People do make wrong choices – we are only human. Is it good or right? NO. Can we be forgiven or forgive? Yes! Who is perfect among us? Not I and I can guarantee, you aren’t either! I had a very abusive first marriage; I have forgiven him and hold no bitterness towards him. That only would hurt me. She needs to forgive and let go and maybe take a lesson from the first wife SHE dissed on…she moved on and apparently is holding no grudge. So while this woman is so dead set on getting revenge (no matter what the cost….hate is a horrible weapon) we need to look at who would be able to stand against the big machine of the dems and not be afraid to look them in the eye and stand firm. How many times does Newt have to say ‘Yes, I was wrong and have sought forgiveness’ for us to actually forgive him, too. Let’s get on with the bigger issues of the incumbent turning this nation into his ‘transformed america’. I believe everyone of the gop candidates love America. I don’t think Romney’s wealth should be an issue either. Concentrate on their ideas and plans for America.
Character counts. Christian marriage is to reflect the covenant relationship between Christ and His bride(the church). Mr. Gingrich character record is a dismal failure. He has flip flopped on 3 marriages and how many churches/doctrine. Going from the Gospel of Grace to the Gospel of Works is no simple jump. As the mother of two daughters and grandmother of five grandchildren, I find this a sad state of affairs. A man that can’t manage his own family is not a good choice for a leader. America has a moral problem–our number one crisis. Our leaders are a reflection of us. What kind of example are we setting for future generations? May God have mercy on us all.
Newt is 67 years old his passions now ( and even in the past) were for his country, proven I beleive by his track record of marriages. The fact that his first wife and children are still in his life speak well for him The fact that Marianne is coming forward now is sour grapes and shameful since she was involved with him prior to his divorce from his first wife. I beleive that Newt Gingrich is the better candidate. experience wise, common sense wise, understanding of the Constitution and perhaps even the fact that he has been reprimanded in the past. It gives him a completly different perspective from the other candidates. We do learn over time from our mistakes. Each and everyone of us has something in our life or past that we regret. Age brings insite that we did not have as younger individuals. Experience teaches valuable lessons of what we did wrong and how we could have done better. I want a President with experience under his belt, with knowledge that can lead us out of the mess that this current President has made even worse. I have not liked the last four or five GOP candidates that the party has picked but have voted for them because I dislike the Democratic candidates even less. If we keep attacking every person that runs for public office we will never get a candidate that is worth anything. Negative ads are not helping anyone and it is time we get down to hearing what the solutions they are suggesting to solve our problems and not keep addressing pasts that have been public record for a long time.
I am a strong, conservative Republican Woman and I am now skeptical of Kitchen Cabinet and it’s blatant hit piece. You have lost my support. We do not know what went on in this marriage. A woman who cheated with a married man and then decry’s victim status when the same thing happens to her holds no credibility with me. Two wrongs do not make a right and that is the pot calling the kettle black. This is not about a man’s integrity. It is a political hit job by a scorned woman with an ax to grind and an oh so willing left wing media which is happy to help her lower the ax upon the neck of a Republican
Once is a mistake. Twice is a habit. This man lives a dishonest life and you think he’ll do otherwise in office? My real concern, however, without regard to his ex-wife’s opinion is that he is a politician. In the 60’s America worried that JFK was Catholic. Now people are holding Romney’s religion as a negative but Newt being Catholic means that god forgave him? Speaking of being in the room. Did you hear God do that? If so you have a career opportunity you are missing. And for whoever bashed Romney’s morals–where did that come from????? Stop smoking that stuff. What has he done that’s immoral or did it just look good in print?
Who are any of you women to make a judgement on this man. Not that I think that what he did in his personal life 15 years ago was right, but why does the liberal media choose to go into every Conservative politicians closets and dig up any trash they can, a very good example Herman Cain was running a great race and I believe the man had an opportunity to be a great leader, but he was shot down by the liberal media, by women that were in my opinion very unbelievable. And on the other side they totally ignore and let our current President seal all of his records, which has never been done by any President before him. I think it is very odd that Obama has absolutely no past friends, girlfriends etc. that ever came forward to say anything good or bad about the man. I’ve even heard talking heads say during his first campaign they knew nothing about this man, more than once. The rumors about him were that was a coke head and consorted with terrorist and I believe they have come to light.
I loved Newt’s response to CNN. It was absolutely great and I applaud the man for bringing up the desparities in the Liberal Media. He has my vote and I’ve been a Divorcee twice because of cheating ex-husbands. Live does go on and there are other fish to fry. I look at the total picture and I believe that MD Rogers is right on about Newt’s experience, intellegence, wisdom and knowledge about the government and constitution. Irregardless of his personal life I believe that he has great leader Characteristics.
Why should we give the public trust to a man who has repeatedly betrayed those closest to him?
Seems pretty clear. These are smart ladies and over 90% choose Newt. Wise choice! Some people are real people and have dealt with the bitter things in life. We forgive, we forget, we move forward. We see those who inflicted the damage get right with God and change! That is the redeeming power of the Cross. That is the power of the Holy Spirit of God working in our lives. One lady sees Romney as a “pretty boy prissy” who would run if threatened. Hardly the replacement to Obama we need!! Most see Newt as ambitious, flawed, a leader, someone who can govern a nation, with experience, a tremendous intellect and a vast understanding of D.C., politics, and our precious Constitution. They choose Newt, overwhelmingly.
Interesting, TKC. Guess women can think for themselves. These smart and very likable women choose Newt. Guess you need to shine your “Romney Ray” on them and get them in line, eh?……(DON’T LOOK LADIES! DON’T LOOK! NEWT 2012!!!)
Sharon, I like your point. YES, Marianne was Newt’s mistress. She was the “other woman.” She and Newt divorced 12 years ago and have no contact. Now. over a decade later, she suddenly needs to purge her pain – a day or 2 before the SC primary? Hmmm. Kind of strains credibility, doesn’t it? Now Newt is married to Callista. Callista is in the limelight. Marianne saw an opportunity, snapped up by a corrupt press, to wipe the smile from Callista, to damage Newt, and no doubt to pocket a big wad of sweaty cash from CNN and the others! DON’T CRY FOR MARIANNE. SHE IS BITTER. She should have moved on with her life YEARS and YEARS ago! Now, she is just haggard, bitter, and a money-grubber with trash to sell. YUCK. This kind of garbage cheapens us all. Can we all attempt to TAKE THE HIGH ROAD? Or is that too weak and won’t beat Obama? Ask God, Maker of Heaven and Earth, King of Kings, Lord of Lords. He is in control. This election is a piece of cake to Him. Ancient Israel was given evil Kings for their own good; so they would seek God again. When they repented, were forgiven, and redeemed…He gave the Ruler they need and sought, usu. a great King to rule with wisdom and grace for the people. Amen!
You’re right, this is a debate between what “He said…She said.” However in the case of Newt Gingrich, his personal life has been lived on a public stage. There have been many, MANY witnesses. His own aides, colleagues, and interfaith leaders are those who are quoted in stories which document his past behaviors. Gingrich disputes little.
There are some slightly altered facts in the stories that discuss Marianne Gingrich. First of all, she does not have MS. She has not been diagnosed with it still today. What she was told was that she had a condition that could lead to MS — and as of yet, has not. This is not said to diminish her medical concerns, but rather to point out that when things are listed as “facts” without verification, they are not facts at all — but just another attempt to tarnish a man.
In addition, the condition she was diagnosed with was told to her eight months prior to the day he asked for a divorce. And if you look further into their marriage, she was not a victim. The first separation was based on her request for a divorce, at which time she emptied their house of furniture and let Speaker Gingrich return home to an empty house. These are the actions of woman capable of vindictiveness.
Again, none of this is to claim that Gingrich’s affairs were excusable. They are not, and Gingrich has never asked to be excused from his actions.
But in a marriage, it is never one-sided. There is always another story, and Marianne was quoted as saying if her husband attempted to run for president, she would go online and undermine him the entire way — while she was MARRIED TO HIM.
I don’t claim to know what’s in the man’s heart. No one can. That means we cannot sit and judge whether he is honest now or not. We can only judge our own willingness to give a second chance to a man who has been forthright, honest and upfront about his mistakes and his actions. And I choose to give him that chance, because I think his boldness, his ability and desire to fight for this country are exactly what we need in the Oval Office.
Your sources for this personal information? We are following Marianne’s account on ABC and in Esquire Magazine.
I, too, believe in forgiveness and redemption, but the Bible says one must go to the offended person and ask THEIR forgiveness, not just God’s forgiveness or the affected children’s forgiveness. Wife #2 says Gingrich has never said he’s sorry TO HER, the offended one; therefore, Newt’s redemption is incomplete. When Wife #2 announces, “Newt has asked for my forgiveness and I have given it,” then and only then will Newt’s redemption be complete.
Secondly, I would not want a woman as First Lady who screwed another woman’s husband for SIX YEARS! Callista Gingrich needs to ask for Wife #2’s forgiveness as well. There’s no record Callista has done this; therefore, her redemption is incomplete as well. When Wife #2 announces, “Callista Gingrich has asked for my forgiveness and I have given it,” then and only then will Callista Gingrich’s redemption be complete.
BTW, Wife #2 owes Wife #1 the same apology she’s expecting from Newt and Callista. Newt owes Wife #1 the same apology and request for forgiveness that he needs to ask of Wife #2.
Vote for Ron Paul–married to the same woman for 54 years.
