Sarah…Do We Really Want MORE GOP Contention?
February 12, 2012
The Kitchen Cabinet has always admired the savvy calls of Sarah Palin, and she always seems committed only to the best interests of America.
So it is perplexing to see Mrs. Palin suggesting at CPAC that it would be good for the GOP to have a contentious convention and remain divided as a Party all the way till Labor Day! Wouldn’t that mean that candidates and political donors are wasting our precious dollars on IN-FIGHTING instead of putting it all on the more important target of defeating the SPENDERS in Washington and changing leadership in The White House?
THAT’s JUST what the Democrats are hoping for! Palin has been all but stumping for Newt Gingrich, and her husband has actually endorsed the former Speaker. Perhaps she believes that Newt Gingrich could make a move at the GOP convention. The polls, and Gingrich’s performances in Caucuses and Primaries just don’t seem to forecast such a political possibility.
The bigger concern? We’re going up against a billion dollar Democratic National Committee and Obama Campaign treasure chest this Fall. Is it really healthy for Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul to keep attacking each other for SEVEN MORE LONG MONTHS?????? Here’s a summary of her remarks from ABC.com:
“The GOP’s 2008 vice presidential nominee didn’t endorse a candidate for president, and she said that the drawn-out primary process can benefit the party — as long as Republicans don’t turn on each other.
Follow @TKC_US“In America, we believe that competition strengthens us,” she said. “Competition relates to victory in 2012. We must stay true to our principles. I believe that the competition has got to keep going. But let’s make sure that the competition brings out the best in our party.
“We know that the far left and their media allies can’t beat us on the issues, so instead they’ll distort our records,” she added. “Let’s not do the job for them, OK, Republicans? OK, independents?”
Palin, wearing a bright-red blouse, black skirt and heels, spent her time on the stage bashing both Obama and Washington. But for all the contempt she had for Obama, she borrowed liberally from his most famous statements.
Perhaps alluding to Obama’s famous red-state/blue-state speech from the 2004 Democratic convention, Palin said in one of her frequent rhyming lines that Americans aren’t “red” or “blue.” She concluded, as the conservatives rose to their feet again, “We’re red, white and blue, and President Obama, we are through with you.”
“Hope and change — yeah, you’ve got to hope things change,” she added to laughs and more cheers.
Palin referred repeatedly to the tea party movement that has embraced her, and she demanded of the Republican establishment that conservative members of Congress be treated better.
“This November, we’re going to take back the Senate, and we’re going to fortify the House,” she said of tea party candidates. “We’ll elect more, and this time, establishment, we expect them to get leadership posts in Congress.”
Palin needs to go back to Alaska and shut up. And why does anyone care what her husband thinks?
I think she’s RIGHT! If the candidates DEBATE THE ISSUES instead of USE PERSONAL ATTACKS, they will RAISE THE BAR, and SCHOOL THE VOTERS on What it Expect in the General Election. And that way, NO MATTER WHICH of our candidates win, the public will be informed, Obama will be guessing, and any personal attacks he does will make him look like the PUNK he IS!!!
