Cain: Cutting His Losses
December 4, 2011
Can we speak candidly?
Even if we give Herman Cain a pass on SOME of the questions about his past and recent behaviors, he still gets an “F” for failing to take any responsibility whatsoever for the discomfort caused his family and his followers. It seems…blind in a way? As reported from his press conference on Saturday:
“An unapologetic and defiant Herman Cain suspended his presidential campaign on Saturday, pledging that he “would not go away” even as he abandoned the Republican presidential race in the face of escalating accusations of sexual misconduct. “As of today, with a lot of prayer and soul-searching, I am suspending my presidential campaign,” Mr. Cain said at a rally in Atlanta, surrounded by supporters chanting his name. “Because of the continued distractions, the continued hurt caused on me and my family, not because we are not fighters. Not because I’m not a fighter.”
Cain has been very polished in his careful wording, calling the allegations…distractions. Calling it all “hurt caused ON me and my family.”
Not admitting any possible personal responsibility. Not admitting that he is stepping away because his donors are fleeing. Not a word of actual explanation for his middle of the night phone calls with yet another woman revealing genuine inappropriate behaviors involving him.
The disappointment in a man with such presence, speaking skills, and decent ideas, is surprisingly complete.
Kitchen Cabinet women need to know:
1-Herman Cain never built a campaign, or campaign staff.
2-Herman Cain kept his commitments to his book tour instead of making a commitment to the campaign trail. His book, “My Journey To The White House” was created under contract, and his comments likely had to be limited to KEEP his book sales up and to enable him to keep his promised royalties. Some publishing contracts actually contain a “character clause.” If so, it behooved Cain to stick to the hint of conspiracy involved in the emergence of the allegations. Taking full responsibility or offering an apology, could actually have been financially and personally costly. Either way, his failure to accept any responsibility has been disconcerting. Needless to say, his book demanded some kind of “journey” to The White House to be worth the paper it was written on.
3-Herman Cain raised more money than say, Jon Huntsman, but not anywhere near enough to wage a campaign even in Iowa. Some say $12 million dollars. In reality, less than $3 million. Some of that might be asked back.
4-Herman Cain created NO ground team in the crucial and early Primary state of Iowa. Never mind New Hampshire or South Carolina.
That in mind, where have the sacred donations given to Cain by some Kitchen Cabinet women and many others GONE?
Political insiders have known for sometime that Cain’s early intentions were to advance public exposure for his book and to test the national waters. Women who are struggling under the weight and consequences of a poor economy and deserve to be more than just a little disenchanted that yet again another self-possessed male candidate was running for high office. Knowing, as Cain did, that he had a significant and questionable record with women, it is unbelievable that he would believe the glare of the national spotlight would not illuminate his past and present.
Somehow men like Herman Cain, having developed an appetite for wealth and unexpected attention, often fool…themselves.

Interesting viewpoint………..interesting ANONYMOUS viewpoint, that is. No claim of authorship, no caption specifying just who the screaming black man in the picture is……why your piece is no better than the unfounded allegations of sexual harassment that never stuck to Cain in the first place. And this last pile of crap -not harassment, oh no – but now a 13 year affair in his own back yard, with never even a restaurant receipt produced to support the story – brought by another financially distraught women with a history of mental illness.. Funny, every democratic candidate for president since JFK has been a philanderer…but that never stopped them………
Tony….Curtis? Herman Cain is lucky to have your confidence. Have you been listening to the same Herman Cain as we have? Perhaps Herman Cain SHOULD have taken a lie detector test, as he said he was willing to do, and put all of these allegations to rest and kept his campaign on track?
The last I checked this Republic requires a person to be innocent until FOUND guilty. Why does no one put their energy into seeking information on the money behind these women’s allegations. That might be a surprise to everyone. Also Herman Cain suspended his campaign and did not quit. The definition for suspended is temporarily. There are many days until the American people vote so perhaps the last say will be the people.
