CABINET BULLETIN: ABC NEWS To Air Marianne Gingrich Interview THURS NIGHT
January 19, 2012
For anyone with past regrets or a past life, the thought of an ex-spouse sitting before news cameras and spilling out ugly details of a failed relationship …has got to make you squirm.
Marianne Gingrich, second wife of Newt Gingrich, FOR SOME REASON has decided to save her story for this
week and this race, and it may be payback. She was wronged by Gingrich, after SHE wronged Newt Gingrich’s first wife, Jackie. It’s messy to be sure. However, Marianne Gingrich was a congressional aide when she became involved with Congressman Gingrich, and watched his ascent and his encounter with power as Speaker of The House. Their marriage bumped through these years, and was compromised by an apparent ongoing affair with Gingrich’s current and third wife, Callista.
Marianne Gingrich would have been a personal witness to many of Gingrich’s successes and failures on Capitol Hill. Like Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi who was integral to the investigation of Newt Gingrich’s congressional ethics violations, Marianne Gingrich claims to “have the ability to bring him down.”
Newt Gingrich’s daughters, Kathy Lubbers and Jackie Cushman, have released an open letter to the network, in an attempt to temper any coming allegations by Marianne Gingrich. Jackie Cushman incidentally, has been paid as a significant consultant to the campaign. Her mother Jackie, and Jackie’s sister are also both on the Gingrich campaign payroll. Kathy Lubbers and Jackie Cushman letter reads:
“The failure of a marriage is a terrible and emotional experience for everyone involved. Anyone who has had that experience understands it is a personal tragedy filled with regrets, and sometimes differing memories of events.
We will not say anything negative about our father’s ex-wife. He has said before, privately and publicly, that he regrets any pain he may have caused in the past to people he loves.
ABC News or other campaigns may want to talk about the past, just days before an important primary election. But Newt is going to talk to the people of South Carolina about the future– about job creation, lower taxes, and about who can defeat Barack Obama by providing the sharpest contrast to his damaging, extreme liberalism. We are confident this is the conversation the people of South Carolina are interested in having.
Our father is running for President because of his grandchildren – so they can inherit the America he loves. To do that, President Obama must be defeated. And as the only candidate in the race, including Obama, who has actually helped balance the national budget, create jobs, reform welfare, and cut taxes and spending, Newt felt compelled to run – to serve his country and safeguard his grandchildren’s future.”
