Oakland Can’t Resist OCCUPY WALL STREET
November 2, 2011

You’ll really love how the PBS News hour reviews Oakland’s courageous efforts to keep the unemployed and unhappy BUSY in Oakland.

Time To Make Signs And Costumes...No Time To Make A Living

At this hour, 4000 protestors are reported lining up in Oakland as they continue to seek attention for an undisclosed and misunderstood agenda.  Even by their own followers.

  1. An unorganized agenda is no reason to dismiss all of these people, or this movement. I am a gainfully employed, tax-paying, law-abiding citizen of this country and I can still vehemently sympathize with the interests of the protestors. For too long we have allowed the government, in a blatant partnership with corporate America, pillage our rights, money and health to benefit the interests of the few. The accumulation of wealth will only continue if we stay this course, and the many will be left fighting for the scraps left behind.

Furthermore, to demonize the unemployed is naive at best. It’s no secret that America is suffering from an epidemic of unemployment, as well as underemployment, where even those who desperately seek to attain a position are not able to find them. if you truly cared about this country and the principles it was founded upon, you would appreciate the fact that peaceful protest is a pillar of a properly functioning democracy.

Have some humanity, and please stop blindly towing the party line.

  2. Thank you for a thoughtful comment here.  Occupy Wall Street would have the MOST credibility if it were real, and not a hired effort by Move-on.org and big unions fearing the end of an era.  The violence, the confusion of causes, has unfortunately turned the protests into a liability.  I agree with you however that Wall Street needs supervision, and we certainly support peaceful public protests!  Occupy Wall Street is a marketing campaign.
