Make It Stop!

We’ll take ANYTHING!  Any improvement on the existing tax code would be a lifesaver for most families.  Take a look at the handful of ideas which the Mitt Romney campaign has fleshed out for voters this week.  Take a look:

1-Make Permanent, Across-The-Board 20 Percent Cut In Marginal Rates. This bold stroke reduces the tax on the next dollar of income earned for all taxpayers. The new top rate of 28 percent returns to the top rate signed by President Reagan in 1986.

2-Pro-Growth. These tax cuts — relative to President Obama’s proposal to raise the tax rates on the most successful business owners — will increase wages in non-corporate businesses by 6 percent, increase investment by 10 percent, and increase business receipts by 16 percent. . . .

3-Mitt Romney will maintain the current 15 percent rate on income from qualified dividends and capital gains. He will cut taxes further on lower- and middle-income Americans by ensuring that families with an annual income below $200,000 will pay no taxes on income from capital gains, interest, and qualified dividends. These low tax rates will create powerful incentives for Americans to save and invest, while spurring business investment and economic growth.

4-He also promises to abolish the inheritance tax and the alternative minimum tax.

Let’s face it, Romney’s plan is realistic, encourages growth, business expansion, and protects The Middle Class, which is being suffocated by high gas and food prices, and tax increases at every turn.  It’s not “9 – 9 -9,” but that plan was never taken seriously in its entirety.  It was almost more of a punchline than reality.  Let’s see if the other GOP candidates counter Mitt Romney’s suggestions….and do better.

Gingrich Leaning On ONE Major Donor For His Roller Coaster Campaign

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is only IN the 2012 presidential race this February BECAUSE of one, single, donor.   Adelson. Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum wouldn’t still be in the game without his single backer, longtime GOP funder Foster Friess.  What if Democrat Warren Buffet decides that he wants Bill Gates to be President of the United States, or Hillary Clinton?  Or consider George Soros selecting Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz as his dream candidate?

Something’s wrong here.  These giant “Super-Pac” contributions are only “SuperSizing” the amount of influence a tiny handful of wealthy Americans have on our government.

Ron Paul Gathering Support The Old Fashioned Way

Meanwhile…Mitt Romney and Ron Paul are EARNING their support the hard way.  On the ground.  Actually accruing tens of thousands of donors, supporters and volunteers.  THE OLD-FASHIONED WAY.  Winning the People’s support in numbers large enough to tip the meter.

Of course Mitt Romney has some sugar daddies too.  But he has a mixture of support, and that’s the whole IDEA. 

Here’s what Sheldon Adelson, the owner of the Venetian in Las Vegas, has to say for himself……

“Sheldon Adelson plays as stubbornly in politics as he does in business. So the criticisms that he’s trying to personally buy the presidential election for Newt Gingrich are met with a roll of the eyes. “Those people are either jealous or professional critics,” Adelson tells me during his first interview since he and his wife began funneling $11 million, with another $10 million injection widely expected, into the former speaker’s super PAC, Winning Our Future. “They like to trash other people. It’s unfair that I’ve been treated unfair—but it doesn’t stop me. I might give $10 million or $100 million to Gingrich.”

Adelson, 78,  certainly can afford to: With a net worth of roughly $25 billion, that $11 million, which jolted Gingrich’s flatlining presidential bid back to life, equates to 0.044% of his fortune. For someone with a $1 million net worth, the equivalent would be $440, or a two-night stay at Adelson’s Venetian casino. Adelson could personally fund an entire presidential campaign—say, $1 billion or so—and not even notice.

Mitt and Ann Romney Have Wealthy Friends And Grassroots Support

Is that fair?

“I’m against very wealthy ­people attempting to or influencing elections,” he shrugs. “But as long as it’s doable I’m going to do it. Because I know that guys like Soros have been doing it for years, if not decades. And they stay below the radar by creating a network of corporations to funnel their money. I have my own philosophy and I’m not ashamed of it. I gave the money because there is no other legal way to do it. I don’t want to go through ten different corporations to hide my name. I’m proud of what I do and I’m not looking to escape recognition.”

He’s also proud of his hawkish defense of Israel—his wife is Israeli and his young sons carry Israeli passports. Yet those who have categorized his patronage of Gingrich and other Republicans as a one-issue investment have it wrong. The man whose net worth, by Forbes’ calculations, has jumped more ($21.6 billion) during Obama Administration than any American — Mark Zuckerberg included — wants to take the president out for economic reasons.

“What scares me is the continuation of the socialist-style economy we’ve been experiencing for almost four years. That scares me because the redistribution of wealth is the path to more socialism, and to more of the government controlling people’s lives. What scares me is the lack of accountability that people would prefer to experience, just let the government take care of everything and I’ll go fish or I won’t work, etc.”

The Kitchen Cabinet would like to see candidates:  Build a website, issue daily and weekly information, participate in state-by-state debates, issue a four-page position paper and plan for America….and LET US VOTE.  No ads, no mailers, no viral videos, just face-to-face conversations NOT moderated by the media.

Luxury Accommodations

We are making a sacrifice to live in The White House so that Daddy can serve America.  Not everyone gets to have their own chef, their own limo, their own mansion, their own box seats at the theater, a bowling alley to themselves, private Halloween Parties with movie stars, and even our own movie theater.   At the same time, because we are here to SERVE the country, we’ll have to make some sacrifices.   When Daddy goes on his big jet to far away places to represent America, we will select the exciting destinations and take you along!  But there will be other times when we probably won’t be able to take some of our usual and frequent family vacations whenever we want, because it’s just not fair for taxpayers to have to pay the enormous amount of money required to support and protect us.  After all, a lot people in the country can’t even afford a vacation this year.”   Or have their own pilot!

Instead we get: “Damn the torpedoes!  Let’s get out of this hole!  It’s been almost 4 weeks since our last vacation!  I NEED TO GET AWAAAAY!  Call up the jet and girls call the stewards to bring your bags!!!!!!!!”

Skiing On The Taxpayers' Dime

“Barely a month after returning from a luxury Christmas break in Hawaii Michelle Obama is on holiday again – this time at the exclusive Colorado ski resort of Aspen. It’s her 16th holiday since her husband took office.

The First Lady Michelle Obama is spending Presidents’ Day weekend in the upmarket resort with her daughters, Sasha and Malia, and was seen hitting the slopes – albeit apprehensively – on Saturday.    The Secret Service have been in town for the past few days looking for safe places for the family to relax.  Pitkin County Sheriff Joe DiSalvo confirmed Mrs Obama arrived Friday afternoon, saying, ‘it’s a privilege to have the first lady here.’ He told the Aspen Daily News he met with Secret Service officers and has placed seven of his deputies at the service of the First Family.

Here’s the list of 16 family vacations the Obamas have taken in the three years they have been in The White House.  EXCLUDING Barack’s 95 rounds of golf!

How The Dems See Healthcare...

There’s more!  Read this today from the Wall Street Journal revealing that “directives” on contraception are just the tip of the iceberg with the Obama/Reid/Pelosi vision of your healthcare future!

“Offended by President Obama’s decision to force health insurers to pay for contraception and surgical sterilization? It gets worse: In the future, thanks to ObamaCare, the government will issue such health edicts on a routine basis—and largely insulated from public view. This goes beyond contraception to cancer screenings, the use of common drugs like aspirin, and much more.  Under ObamaCare, a single committee—the United States Preventative Services Task Force—is empowered to evaluate preventive health services and decide which will be covered by health-insurance plans.

The task force already rates services with letter grades of “A” through “D” (or “I,” if it has “insufficient evidence” to make a rating). But under ObamaCare, services rated “A” or “B”—such as colon cancer screening for adults aged 50-75—must be covered by health plans in full, without any co-pays. Many services that get “Cs” and “Ds”—such as screening for ovarian or testicular cancer—could get nixed from coverage entirely.

That’s because mandating coverage for all the “A” and “B” services will be very costly. In 2000, the Congressional Budget Office estimated that the marginal cost of similar state insurance mandates was 5%-10% of total claims. Health plans will inevitably choose to drop coverage for many services that don’t get a passing grade from the task force and therefore aren’t mandated. Insurance companies will need to conserve their premium money, which the government regulates, in order to spend it subsidizing those services that the task force requires them to cover in full.”

Parents: Time To Pay Attention

A new crippling wave of drug use is spreading throughout the U.S. and creating a dangerous new threat to youngsters, teens and young adults.

Parents, often the last to know, may have never heard of “Spice” or “Bath Salts.”  Both are now available on the open market, at your neighborhood gas stations, smoke shops, drug stores often don’t even know what these new threats are, because they are calculatingly labeled:  NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION.

Even though, kids are using them now everyday.

Here’s the background:

"Spice" might come in slightly different packaging, but the danger is all the same. Talk to your kids.

“SPICE” is a synthetic “Cannibanoid” or Marijuana.  ( Sometimes called “Jazz”.”)  It has the appearance of dried Oregano or Parsley and it’s sold as incense.  It is also often sprayed with dangerous chemicals that could kill.  High school students are using it in place of Marijuana.  Spice is now becoming more popular than Marijuana.

“CRATUM” is an opiate and is revealed in the blood as methadone.  It is a prescription drug or a liquid, and can be disguised as a 5-hour energy drink.

Kratom looks like a ground form of Marijuana, Oregano or Parsley, and also comes in capsules.

It’s branded AS “Cratum” or “Kratum.”  Here’s just a hint from Wikipedia:

“As with any substance that is ingested, adulteration or contamination is also a risk. In Europe branded kratom illegally laced with undisclosed synthetic opioid agonists such as O-desmethyltramadol have been reported. One brand that contained a mix of several different substances rather than natural kratom was linked to the deaths of nine people in Sweden during 2010-2011.  Kratom is a controlled substance in Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Bhutan, New Zealand, Australia, Finland, Denmark, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden (Mitragynin) as of writing.”

“BATH SALTS” could be the worst of the bunch and is sold in the same retail settings and looks like a powder in a small, inexpensive packets.  Senator Chuck Schumer of New York has proposed legislation to ban it, and most parents don’t even KNOW about it.  Bath Salts are made of some of the most toxic ingredients known as mephedrone and methylenedioxypyrovalerone, also known as MDPV, already banned in many states.  More is here from The New York Post:

One generic sample of "bath salts" which is cheap, causes deep and lengthy paranoia, and hallucinations.

What parents need to know is that drug testing is not yet sophisticated in revealing this kind of drug use.  As labs develop tests, the makers change the composition to disguise Spice, and Bath Salts.  Cratum, experts are unable to test for at all.

“One young man residing in a nearby facility was discovered to be under the influence of Bath Salts, and just as an example, he was in such a paranoic state that he was unable to move out of doorway for a day and half, fearful that going one way or the other something terrible would happen.  The same young man, about 30, under the same influence jumped from a 2nd story apartment, broke both of his ankles and kept running.  Police had to restrain him with a taser before he could come to a rest[,]”  shares Jeremy Broderick, who runs Windward Way, a respected residential living facility for recovering addicts.

“Parents need to be aware of what’s available to kids, and how cheap and accessible it all is.  A lot of time parents are fooled into thinking their teens have behavioral problems, when what’s piercing their family is drug use.  So many of the drugs today are opiate-based and young kids and teens are HOOKED the very first time a friend offers it as a kick, a game, or an act of rebellion.  It’s OVER the very first time.”

It’s a dangerous world for our kids and families.  Get informed, don’t be afraid to demand a drug test from your teens, your young adults, even your adult children.  If it’s happening to them, you an imagine the epidemic that is infecting the workplace, our schools and communities.  In researching this article The Kitchen Cabinet found that virtually EVERY state and county in America is in the process of trying to ban bath salts and all the above mentioned threats.

Fighting To Take The Lead In Michigan...And Maybe On Super Tuesday

Rick Santorum campaigning hard today was heard striking out at both Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama.

Santorum, stung by Romney’s attacks claiming his congressional record was dotted by wasteful legislative “earmarks,” accused Governor Romney of marching to Washington to ask for “earmarks” to help support the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics which he supervised.   But Santorum had an even more personal attack aimed at Barack Obama which has been re-broadcast all day long:

“Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator known for his social conservative views, said Obama’s agenda is based on “some phony theology. Not a theology based on the Bible. A different theology.” He later suggested that the president practices a different kind of Christianity.

Should we be concentrating...on the economy?

“In the Christian church there are a lot of different stripes of Christianity,” he said. “If the president says he’s a Christian, he’s a Christian.”

The Obama campaign said the comments represent “the latest low in a Republican primary campaign that has been fueled by distortions, ugliness, and searing pessimism and negativity.”

In Ohio, a Super Tuesday prize, Santorum played to friendly crowds. Trailing Romney in money and campaign resources, he is depending on the Tea Party movement and religious groups to deliver a victory March 6 in the contest.

More delegates will be awarded in Ohio than in any other state except Georgia in the opening months of the Republican campaign. Ohio and Georgia are two of the 10 contests scheduled for March 6, a benchmark for the primary campaign that often decides who can continue to the next level.

Santorum has surged in recent opinion polls after capturing Republican caucuses in Minnesota and Colorado and a nonbinding primary in Missouri on Feb. 7. Several polls have shown him ahead in Romney’s native state of Michigan, where primary voters cast ballots a week from Tuesday.

Even as he criticized Obama, Santorum also went after one of Romney’s most promoted achievements – his leadership at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

“One of Mitt Romney’s greatest accomplishments, one of the things he talks about most is how he heroically showed up on the scene and bailed out and resolved the problems of the Salt Lake City Olympic Games,” Santorum said. “He heroically bailed out the Salt Lake City Olympic Games by heroically going to Congress and asking them for tens of millions of dollars to bail out the Salt Lake games – in an earmark, in an earmark for the Salt Lake Olympic games.”

The Romney campaign does not dispute that congressional earmarks helped save the games. But they noted that Santorum voted for those earmarks, among many others, when he was a senator.

“Sometimes when you shoot from the hip, you end up shooting yourself in the foot,” Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said. Continuing, Saul remindd reporters that “there is a big difference between asking Congress to provide extra security funding because of 9-11, and asking for funding for a ….zoo.”

Mormon volunteers are often first responders in disasters.

We have been asked to offer an article published this week by The Wall Street Journal about the Mormon welfare system.  You may not know that one of the chief partners of the Red Cross, The Salvation Army, and Catholic Charities, is the Mormon Church. Income tax records have indicated it is also a main charity of Mitt an Ann Romney, and for good reason.  Mormons are hailed for their disaster relief and grassroots volunteer efforts.  Today the Wall Street Journal takes an inside look at the LDS’ own remarkable welfare system which keeps its members OFF of government welfare and provides food, goods, and jobs for the needy and emergencies throughout the world.  The ruling principle of their welfare system?  Help yourself.

“Ever since Mitt Romney said he was “not concerned about the very poor” but would fix America’s social safety net “if it needs repair,” conservatives and liberals have been frantically making suggestions. Gov. Romney says he would consider options like restructuring Medicaid. But if he wants to see a welfare system that lets almost no one fall through the cracks while at the same time ensuring that its beneficiaries don’t become lifelong dependents, he could look to his own church.

In addition to goods from canned peaches to emergency generators, the facility also houses the church’s own trucking company, complete with 43 tractors and 98 trailers, as well as a one-year supply of fuel, parts and tires for the vehicles. Just in case.

The storehouse is not only a kind of physical marvel—it has been built to withstand an earthquake with a magnitude as high as 7.5—but also a symbol of strength and self-sufficiency.

Launched during the Great Depression, the Mormon welfare system was designed by church leaders as a way to match the armies of the unemployed faithful with some of the nearby farms that needed temporary labor. As storehouse manager Richard Humpherys explains, goods and services were traded so that if a father needed food for his family he could get some in exchange for, say, repairing the fence of a widow down the road.

David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel: Tripping Up The GOP Presidential Race

Isn’t this election supposed to be about the ECONOMY, and how the economy is becoming the moral issue of our time?  Destroying our children’s schools, stealing their futures, and compromising the hard-earned retirements of American workers?

Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod, Obama strategists, must be rubbing their hands together.  This is ALL of their making.

Barack Obama’s re-election campaign set out to disrupt the GOP Caucuses, get major headlines, and BUY votes by promising women free contraceptives.  (A strategy, by the way, that is  insulting to women.)

The Obama camp has hit almost a total home run because the GOP is playing right into their hands!

Rick Santorum’s otherwise vibrant campaign is being distracted by having to defend his belief in abstinence, and his personal religious belief that some forms of contraception are wrong.  Yesterday, his great and generous donor Foster Friess made things worse!  Take a look.

Rick and Karen Santorum: Life IS Sacred

Rick Santorum and his wife and his CHURCH have every right to their personal beliefs and the expression of them.  But the GOP will lose this presidential battle even before Easter….if we don’t stay focused on OBAMA.

Obama threatened the First Amendment and Freedom of Religion.  Period.

Obama has destroyed our economy with his ignorance and the self-interested agenda of social reformers in his administration.

What needs controlling most right now?    SPENDING!

Van Susteren appeared unsatisfied with Santorum’s response and said Friess is “0 and one” in her book.

What is most amazing to The Kitchen Cabinet, is that we don’t hear anyone asking WOMEN what THEY feel on the subject.

To us, it all seems like the dirty politics of power.  The Obama campaign is promising women of meager means a “free” necessity, while quietly paying for it

Parker:  I truly believe that our families are in trouble.  That we have forgotten and belittled the constitution.  I see what my children are learning.   I want to change the direction that our country is going in some small way, and help other moms and moms at heart to be able to fight and know that none of us is alone in how we feel.

TKC:  Now As A Mom.org came to be thanks to national talk-show figure Glenn Beck introduced you on his show, correct?

PARKER:  After Glenn Beck had me on his show, we gained about 25,000 members that very day, and ultimately 80,000.

TKC:  Tell us the story!

PARKER:  Glenn scheduled a show about women, and actually wanted to know what we thought!  He had done a previous show to the one that I was on and a woman from Long Island had talked about how “alone” in her convictions she felt.  As we talked that day and then afterwards, my best friend Anita Reeves and I decided to start a website for all women who were feeling alone, and that’s when As A Mom.org was born.

Minute Mom Magazine is intended to bring the best of thought from our groups and others and help to educate and inform Moms about what’s going on in the world.  We want to talk about all sorts of things that affect mothers, and put it all in one place, and make it free.  You can read it online, or even print it out.
