As A Mom.Org Pioneers The Fantastic “MinuteMom Magazine”
February 16, 2012
So long Good Housekeeping! Ladies Home Journal, even OPRAH better step it up. Innovation and technology are marrying the creative talents of conservative and patriotic women in the new MINUTEMOM MAGAZINE at http://issuu.com/minutemom/docs/feb12.
RUN don’t walk. This is journalism for moms! A state-of-the-art, online, full-color magazine with the kind of stories and information YOU will want to read, and you can pull it up on your IPAD even at the car wash.
The entire magazine has been conceived and funded with the labors and with the grocery money of “912” women from As A Mom.org. Who had the vision? President Lori Parker and As A Mom’s National Vice President Anita Reeves,
The whole enterprise is a giant achievement for some very committed moms, and a terrific service to all of us who LIKE to spend our time reading things that reflect OUR values, not the values of New York’s 5th Avenue.
Interested in how to recover from all your Christmas spending? February’s issue has some great suggestions. Need current voting information or want to read family activist Sharon Slater’s latest update? It’s all at “MinuteMom Magazine.” National Vice President Amber Toone and Lori Parker, as well as their entire team, deserve a standing ovation for the new launch of this 21st century magazine. Recently, The Kitchen Cabinet sat down with the Texas leader of conservative moms across the country:
TKC: What has impassioned you and your magazine staff to take time away from your families to build a magazine?
Parker: I truly believe that our families are in trouble. That we have forgotten and belittled the constitution. I see what my children are learning. I want to change the direction that our country is going in some small way, and help other moms and moms at heart to be able to fight and know that none of us is alone in how we feel.
TKC: Now As A Mom.org came to be thanks to national talk-show figure Glenn Beck introduced you on his show, correct?
PARKER: After Glenn Beck had me on his show, we gained about 25,000 members that very day, and ultimately 80,000.
TKC: Tell us the story!
PARKER: Glenn scheduled a show about women, and actually wanted to know what we thought! He had done a previous show to the one that I was on and a woman from Long Island had talked about how “alone” in her convictions she felt. As we talked that day and then afterwards, my best friend Anita Reeves and I decided to start a website for all women who were feeling alone, and that’s when As A Mom.org was born.
Minute Mom Magazine is intended to bring the best of thought from our groups and others and help to educate and inform Moms about what’s going on in the world. We want to talk about all sorts of things that affect mothers, and put it all in one place, and make it free. You can read it online, or even print it out.
TKC: It’s kind of a contemporary Ladies Home Journal! A way to sit and bed in read what other like-minded women are thinking! What if you want to submit something?
PARKER: You can submit articles on our website, and we get many, at MinuteMom.org. We publish monthly. The whole magazine is produced 100% by volunteers!
TKC: Who are the people behind the magazine?PARKER: The Editor is Diana Learn, Magazine Coordinator is Kami Watkins, and I do the graphic design and I have a degree in that, so I watch over that side of the work. We have a whole list of women contributors as well.
TKC: You are self-funded?
PARKER: Yes! Sorry to say!!!!
TKC: What a great service, and what a great outlet for talented moms who want to share their ideas.
You can actually SUBSCRIBE right on the website…let’s support them!
