Are NBC & ABC PARTNERS In Occupy Wall Street?

The Nation's Ambassador of Journalism?

This is how NBC’s Brian Williams described the violent turn of Occupy Wall Street this week:

“Protesters across the country and a lot of Americans who are sympathetic to this Occupy Wall Street protest movement are tonight rallying around a 24-year-old Iraq war veteran who was seriously injured during a violent confrontation with police in Oakland, California on Tuesday.”

This is how ABC’s George Stephanopolous read the same story:

…one young man has become a symbol of their resolve.” Correspondent Abbie Boudreau followed by

Usually More Measured In His work

declaring: “With tensions mounting daily, the name Scott Olsen has become a national rallying cry for Occupy Wall Street….injured Tuesday night, as police began firing tear gas during the Oakland crackdown.”   A national rallying cry????  Really?  Because one man put himself in the wrong place at the wrong time?

This is how CBS’ Scott Pelley, accidentally using some restraint, described it:

Fair...this time.

Anti-Wall Street protestors accused police of using excessive force. The confrontation left Iraq war veteran Scott Olsen with a fractured skull. But it’s not clear how Olsen was injured or who was responsible.”

Thanks to Newsbusters.org for these examples.  The fact is there is a coordinated, national effort between labor unions, democratic strategists, and sympathetic members of the media who WANT Occupy Wall Street to have legs.   This means taking carefully-aimed tight shots to make the crowds look larger, focused shots on the smartest signs, eliminating images of fringe-players who do not portray the movement in its best light, and ignoring the parts of the movement that are false, or coordinated.

It’s easy.  It’s just like making…..a movie.  Every night at five, national network figures take their seats and define the movement as real, instead of concocted, and you HAVE:  Occupy Wall Street.

Just another reason to turn off the TV and turn on a real… movie.

  1. It’s not new to me that the news media is biaaseds. Remember the last electiopn? Who got more air time, Democratsw or Republicans. When you have intwerviews with both parties and one gets more time then the other, do you consider this a balanced interview? This tactic has been going on since we have news coverage only now it has gotten worse. Instead of trying to hide their political affiliation they should say who they stand for and then let’s see who watches who.
