A Man Who Knows His Way…To A Prayer
October 25, 2012

Study this photo by Eric Draper, White House & Romney Photographer.  A crowd is waiting in Cedar Rapids, Iowa airport hangar on October 24th.  The airplane door is open, the steps docked and ready for deplaning.  While being introduced, Governor Mitt Romney takes a private moment before facing the crowd.

“Down these mean streets a man must go who is not himself mean, who is neither tarnished nor afraid… He is the hero, he is everything. He must be a complete man and a common man and yet an unusual man. He must be, to use a rather weathered phrase, a man of honor, by instinct, by inevitability, without thought of it, and certainly without saying it. He must be the best man in his world and a good enough man for any world.”

-Raymond Chandler

  1. Mitt Romney embodies Raymond Chandler’s quote.  I am proud to support this man for President of these United States.

  2. CLEAR EYES, FULL HEARTS, CAN’T LOSE!! STAY THE COURSE, TAKE CARE, GOD WILL KEEP YOU STRONG!! YOU CAN DO THIS..WE ARE ALL COUNTING ON YOU…AS WE LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR WINNING THIS ELECTION!!

  3. I believe Mr. Romney to be a man of honor, humility and integrity.. a man who loves America and loves Freedom. He is the polar opposite of what has been occupying the whitehouse.

  4. This photo of Mitt Romney is spectacular!!  God Bless America …. I love this quote !!

  5. A picture is worth a thousand word.

  6. God Bless this good man and let us be a smart enough country to see him as our next President.  We so need an honest man of integrity as our leader.  He is a “good” man, may God let him soon run our country.

  7. It is truly inspiring to see such clarity of vision, integrity, steadfastness and consistency on the part of a presidential candidate. Our hope is that Mr. Romney will have the opportunity to restore this great country to its former glory, and retrieve it from this current and rapid downward spiral.

Best wishes for a landslide victory.

    Thank you and God Bless

  8. Thank you Myriam. We feel the same way.

  9. This photo speaks to me…Mitt is able to take a few minutes, compose himself, breathe, listen and make the best choices in moving forward.    ALL of us need to be reminded to do the same.
As all of us make our way to the polls – let be confident in our candidate that
he has the resolve within himself to act on OUR behalf and restore OUR country so that we, all of us may move forward.

  10. From what I have learned of his up-bringing, and his parents, it is SO HEARTENING to see all their effort and love rearing him to see him be such a man of character; – And HOW that Character is needed at this time!!!!

  11. I can’t add much more than has already been posted.I KNOW Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are our future leaders of this great nation and I stand with them and all the others who support them.

  12. He has been raised for this time.  I believe all those nice words that people express about him.  I am sure this battle is not going to be easy.  The forces of evil are going to try to stop him and us.  We must pray with faith as he is doing it.  We need to pray for the people of America, for the honest and good people who knows this victory is going to be due to our Creator’s blessings.  We must live his commandments.  God will give Mitt and Paul strength to overcome the difficulties.  We need to support him by volunteering, by donating money, by inviting our friends and family to go early to vote.  Go Mitt, behind you there are legions of people who are praying for you.  God will guide you.  Our family prays for you daily.  We make calls for you daily, we have donated and we will continue.  President Romney the Lord is with you!

  13. Now here is a man whom I believe is after the Lord’s heart. He is the man whom we need so badly. Like it is said above, the picture of him praying is something we have not seen in four long hard years. My husband and I pray that God will allow him to be the next president of our country everyday. God Bless You President Romney.

  14. I am praying that Mr. Romney will be our next president with Paul Ryan by his side as his vice prsident. We have had four years of embarassment in the white house, and we all long to have dignity and resppect restored to our country. God Bless Mitt Romeny and Paul Ryan and their families and God protect them from aall harm, and their families as well. Please God forgive us for any sins of our path and usher these men to the highest office in our country. Return America to a GOD fearing country. Amem!

  15. David Ignatius published an opinion piece in the Washington Post which essentially called Mitt a milk-toast candidate.  Reading down the comments there riled me up:  too many KoolAid drinkers supporting Obama.  It is nice to read the positive comments here about the man who MUST become our next President!!

  16. I’m praying everyday that Mitt becomes president. I can’t stand another 4 yrs like this!

  17. God bless you and yours, Mitt, and keep you and Ann strong in your journey to save our beloved nation and our Constitution.  I am proud to support you.

  18. Lifting Gov. Romney in prayer for strength and blessings. Praying that eyes and ears will be open to the truth.

  19. As i look at the Photo i have a few thoughts . A man of god , and good man but also one that need our prayers as well . every time he is in the public eye he much have on his mind the thought of some one doing him harm but he much go and do and pray he will be safe. As i pray for him i pray he will be safe .

  20. Spectacular photograph. Being LDS I understand what he is doing and why. He is praying for strength and the ability to win this, IF it is God’s will, not his or ours. He loves this country and prays that he has that opportunity, but only if it is God’s will.

  21. Let me ad to the last comment. I believe that from the moment that Mr Romney believed that he could win the Republican nomination he has believed that it is God’s will that he be the President. God will not interfere. We have our agency. Elections don’t have a destiny. We have a choice to believe in Romney or not. I believe that he is not asking for if…but how to do it the best way so people can vote him. The more support he obtains the more confidence that he will receive that he can do it succesfully, that is not just to win, but to fulfill his promises to us.

  22. Mitt Romney believes that it is HIS job to get elected, we believe. He obviously is very connected to his spirituality, and connects his mind and his heart. But does he believe that it is God’s will that he be President of the United States? Perhaps more importantly, he seems to believe that it is God’s will to fulfill his potential in the world. And with God’s help, Mitt Romney is doing that.

  23. This so reminds me of a picture by I have hanging in my office of George Washington kneeling in prayer next to his horse at Valley Forge. Different era and different circumstances but no less crucial to our nation’s future.  We all need to do the same as Mitt and exercise our faith in God to guide and direct us in our decisions and actions.  God Bless the USA.

  24. Beautiful picture and I know this is not a rare sight for those who are close to him. He is a good man. We need to do our part. We pray for him and his family, for the strength to carry on and continue doing the right thing. We have donated, voted for him and have encouraged family members to be sure and vote. I know some people have complained that he did not use “a big stick” in the last debate. He chose a higher road, set an example of civility. Which we have not seen a lot of lately from the other side. We are praying for those who are still deciding where their vote will go. I want to say to them, you might have voted the wrong way four years ago, but there is no shame is choosing the right this time. On to victory Romney and Ryan for our country’s sake. God Bless You both.

  25. Praying for you Mr. Romney. God be with you always!

  26. I believe in the separation of church and state awarded to us in the Constitution of the US.  Keep your religion out of the US politics.  OBAMA 2012!!

  27. What century are you living in? Welcome your friends to vote their pocketbooks Linda. This isn’t an Election. It’s an Emergency.

  28. Linda …  “separation of church and state” isnt in the Constitution.  The quote was made in a letter Thomas Jefferson sent to a baptist group … when will those on the Left ever take the time to actually read the document … if they are going to refer to it?  May God continue to bless Gov Romney and keep his hand on his shoulder during this time of change … I feel so much safer in the hands of a man that realizes a power greater than self … knowing he is a man who is humble enough to hit his knees at night to ask HIM for guidence in the heavy burden he has gladly taken on in service to his country.  May God Bless America on Nov 6th by rewarding this good man for his faithfulness.

  29. All I can think of when I see when I see this photo is Matthew 6:5-6:

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

  30. It is amazing to see this picture and then watch the lies this man is running about Chrysler, GM and especially China. It devalues what this picture could have meant.

  31. Thinking Man’s comment is the only thing that has devalued this picture or the things that Gov. Romney says. Too bad someone so uninformed to the real truth. In fact it has not devalued the picture at all, it has only given more strength to those that know the truth and saying that he is telling lies just goes to show that Thinking Man does not know what he is talking about.

  32. Lois, sadly I have been well informed. LDS with a strong understanding of intl. bsns. However this does not mean I will blindly support a man who has put so many people out of work and lied so many times during this campaign.

  33. Lois. sometimes you just have to stop wasting your time. There are people who opt to add to these threads just to be negative. It just isn’t worth it. There are tons of reasons why Obama just needs to go home. Mitt Romney is a fine man and will do a really great job! Not worth buying into the banter though as that is what spoils a picture. He will win!!
